Workshop held for nodal officers, health officers of IPHS and Quality Assurance
Chandigarh 29 March: Department of Health and Family Welfare Punjab in collaboration with National Health Systems Resource Centre organized a joint workshop for nodal officers of IPHS and senior Health Officers on Indian Public Health Standards (IPHS) and Quality Assurance (NQAP) here today at Chandigarh.
The event was organized under the guidance of Secretary Health cum Mission Director National Health Mission, Punjab Dr. Abhinav Trikha and with special participation by Dr Himanshu Bhushan, Public Health, Advisor, National Health Systems Resource Centre, Govt of India and his team.
In the course of the event, the experts elaborated that the National Quality Assurance Program (NQAP) is implemented in healthcare organizations to ensure that the quality of services provided meets certain standards. The program is designed to improve patient safety and quality of care, by monitoring and assessing healthcare organizations' performance. NQAP ensures that healthcare organizations provide high-quality care that meets their patients' needs and expectations, and that they continuously strive to improve their performance over time.
Indian Public Health Standards (IPHS) aim to enhance the overall health status of India's population. Some of these objectives include Improving access to healthcare, Enhancing quality of care, Strengthening public health systems, Promoting preventive and promotive health, Addressing health inequalities, Strengthening healthcare governance, etc. Overall, IPHS objectives focus on providing access to quality healthcare services, improving public health systems, and promoting preventive and promotive health measures. This is to improve the health status of India's population.
The workshop will be followed by a 3-day training session from 30th March to 1st April at the State Institute of Health and Family Welfare, Mohali.
On this occasion Director Health Services Dr. Ranjit Singh Ghotra, Director Family Welfare Dr Ravinderpal Kaur, Director National Health Mission, Punjab Dr Satyendarpal Singh, and other officers also addressed the participants.
